Is your home town particularly literary? Is there a wonderful bookshop, library or poetry night? Does the local university’s literature or creative writing department have a reputation for nurturing talented writers?

Would you like to tell the world about it?

We’ve nurtured this idea for a while: an ongoing feature on the website highlighting local literary scenes from all around the world, written by local people. We want to celebrate (and promote) the local quirks and flavours that makes for a unique community. And although the tentative title is ‘Literary Towns’, we would love to read about villages or smaller communities. If you think you can handle a city you’d be more than welcome to try, but perhaps start with one district!

The project will be kicking off in the coming weeks, and if you would like to take part, we’d be delighted to hear from you. Let’s make this a useful resource.
